A donor-advised fund (DAF) is defined as “a philanthropic vehicle established at a public charity (which) allows donors to make a charitable contribution, receive an immediate tax benefit, and then recommend grants from the fund over time.” If you are interested in learning more about DAFs and their role in the current philanthropic landscape, we recommend checking out “Giving USA Special Report – The Data on Donor-Advised Funds.” This report provides information on DAFs, including annual giving, the types of nonprofits they support, how these trends have changed over time, and how nonprofits can incorporate DAFs into their overall fundraising strategy.
