GrantStation Announcements
The latest updates from GrantStation

A Goodbye From Our CEO
On July 1, 2022, I will be leaving GrantStation. It has been a joyous 22 years, and definitely time for new leadership.

I launched GrantStation in 1999 with the help of three friends. Our vision was to create a resource to help nonprofits, educational institutions, small governments, and individual artists find the funding they needed to fulfill their missions. Throughout the past two decades, I have had the privilege of working alongside some of the most talented and dedicated people I have ever known. These people helped build a vibrant and sustainable business serving organizations and individuals all over the world.

Today, I find the original concept for GrantStation, conceived with my trusted friend and Vice President of Research, Julie Kaufman, hasn't wavered. I am deeply grateful for everyone—from my shareholders to my staff to our hundreds of partners—for allowing that vision to continue. Julie has been our touchstone throughout these past 22 years, making sure we stayed true to our vision.

Knowing the vision for GrantStation is solidly intact, and that our staff is passionate about continuing that vision, I've made the decision to step down from my position as CEO. At 72, I feel the need to take on a new challenge, explore other creative opportunities, and leave what I have built in the very capable hands of Ellen Mowrer, who has been my righthand person for over a decade. So as of June 1, 2022, Ellen is GrantStation's new CEO.

Alice Ruhnke will join GrantStation as our new President and content expert. These two women, walking hand in hand with David Preis, Senior Vice President, who has been at my side since 2016, will round out our new executive team.

It is with deep gratitude and many thanks to all of you for the lessons learned through 22 years of working with a community committed to building a better world. What a wonderful way to spend the majority of my work life.

I will continue to serve as Chair of the Board of Directors for GrantStation, so you should always feel free to reach out to me. My new work will also include serving on the Board of Directors of the Social Enterprise Alliance, an organization that strives to place the interests of people and the planet above shareholder gain. My hope is to help SEA to continue to make a significant impact in the U.S.

My sincere thanks to all of you who have made GrantStation such a successful venture, allowing us to help thousands upon thousands of nonprofits across the globe.

Cynthia M. Adams
