Support for Democracy, Human Rights, and Environmental Initiatives
Wallace Global Fund
The mission of the Wallace Global Fund is to promote an informed and engaged citizenry, to fight injustice, and to protect the diversity of nature and the natural systems upon which all life depends. Grants are provided for initiatives at the national and global levels, as well as for significant local or regional programs offering the potential to leverage broader impact. The focus is on nonprofit organizations and non-governmental organizations that are catalyzing significant change in line with one of the following priority areas: Challenge Corporate Power, Defend and Renew Democracy, Protect the Environment, Promote Truth and Creative Freedom in Media, and Advance Women's Human Rights and Empowerment. Education and the Arts Funded
Brooks and Joan Fortune Family Foundation
The Brooks and Joan Fortune Family Foundation was established to support education and the arts. While the Foundation has historically supported nonprofit organizations in Florida and Indiana, requests from around the country are considered. The Foundation primarily supports education, art, and outreach programs and projects. Grants of between $1,000 and $10,000 receive greater consideration. Grants Enhance HIV/AIDS Care and Services
Kent Richard Hofmann Foundation
The Kent Richard Hofmann Foundation is dedicated to the fight against HIV and AIDS. Grant requests from throughout the United States are considered, with particular interest in smaller communities and rural areas. The Foundation supports community-based nonprofit organizations that focus on HIV/AIDS care and direct services, education, or research. Grants are provided to developing or established programs, with emphasis on those that provide direct benefit to clients or target audiences. Requests are reviewed two times per year. The upcoming deadline for letters of inquiry is August 5, 2022; invited grant applications will be due September 2, 2022. Visit the Foundation's website to submit an online letter of inquiry.

Solutions Using Technology to Help the Underserved Supported
Cisco Global Impact Cash Grant Program
Cisco's Global Impact Cash Grant Program supports nonprofit organizations around the globe with national or multinational operations that address social challenges, serve the underserved, and use the internet or internet-based technology to improve the efficiency and reach of program services. Support is provided in the following investment areas: In the education area, the focus is on technology-based solutions that increase equitable access to education while improving student performance, engagement, and career exploration, including K-12 solutions that emphasize STEM, as well as literacy and environmental and climate change education programs. (Support is not provided to schools.) In the economic empowerment area, the focus is on tech-enabled solutions that provide equitable access to the knowledge, skills, and resources that people need to support themselves and their families toward resilience, independence, and economic security, including skills development for job seekers, inclusive entrepreneurship, and banking for the unbanked. In the crisis response area, the focus is on helping overcome the cycle of poverty and dependence and achieve a more sustainable future by supporting organizations that address critical needs of underserved communities. Funds for Organizations in the Upper Midwest
Otto Bremer Trust
The Otto Bremer Trust seeks to invest in people, places, and opportunities in the Upper Midwest. The Trust provides grants to organizations whose beneficiaries are residents of Minnesota, Montana, North Dakota, and Wisconsin. Grantmaking areas of interest include basic needs, community asset building, health and well-being, and restorative and emergency services. Nonprofit organizations and governmental entities are eligible to apply for general operating support, program support, and capital grants. The remaining application deadlines for 2022 are August 11, October 6, and December 1. Application guidelines are available on the Trust's website.

Grants Advance Social Change Efforts of Southern Artists of Color
National Performance Network: Southern Artists for Social Change
Southern Artists for Social Change, a program of the National Performance Network (NPN), provides support to artists and culture bearers of color living, working, and engaging in social change in urban, rural, and tribal communities of Alabama, Louisiana, and Mississippi. The focus is on civic practice projects that bring Black, Indigenous, or people of color artists and culture bearers into collaboration and codesign with community partners and local residents of color around a community-defined vision. The program supports artists who collaborate with their community members to identify a community challenge or need, imagine a different future, and practice, test, or design approaches toward that future that center racial justice. Individual artists and artist collectives who have demonstrated practice in any discipline may apply for $25,000 project grants. Projects should include at least two community members (individuals, agencies, organizations) as collaborators who share in decision-making. Grants may support any phase of a project, including new initiatives or ongoing work, and a portion of funding should directly support the artist(s). The deadline for letters of intent is July 29, 2022; full proposals will be due September 1, 2022. Programs Enhancing the Quality of Life in Maine Supported
Fisher Charitable Foundation
The Fisher Charitable Foundation provides grants to nonprofit organizations in Maine. The Foundation welcomes proposals that offer creative solutions to community problems or take advantage of opportunities that will have a favorable impact on the quality of life for a number of people. Areas of interest include, but are not limited to, arts and culture, children and youth, community development, education, environment, health, and social services. Generally, grants do not exceed $25,000. Application deadlines are February 15, May 15, August 15, and November 15, annually. Visit the Foundation's website to download the application form.

Nevada Habitat and Wildlife Conservation Efforts Funded
Dream Tags Charitable Fund
The Dream Tags Charitable Fund, administered by the Community Foundation of Northern Nevada, provides funding for projects in Nevada focused on the preservation, protection, management, or restoration of Nevada's big game and wildlife habitat. Support is provided for projects that improve, protect, or restore habitat, especially for Nevada's big game, and embrace unique opportunities for advancing wildlife conservation in Nevada. Support is also provided to address emergency needs. Eligible applicants include 501(c)(3) nonprofit agencies, nonprofit educational institutions, and governmental entities. Applicants must provide a minimum 25 percent match for funds requested. The deadline for non-emergency proposals is noon on July 29, 2022. Emergency funding requests may be submitted at any time. Grants Promote Employment Efforts
Department of Housing and Urban Development
The Jobs Plus Initiative provides support to develop locally-based, job-driven approaches that increase earnings and advance employment outcomes through work readiness, employer linkages, job placement, educational advancement, technology skills, and financial literacy for residents of public housing. Program components include employment-related services, financial incentives, and community supports for work. The application deadline is July 29, 2022.

Community Arts Programs Supported
National Endowment for the Arts
Our Town is a creative placemaking grants program that supports projects that integrate arts, culture, and design activities into efforts to strengthen communities by advancing local economic, physical, or social outcomes. These projects require a partnership between local government entities and nonprofit organizations, one of which must be a cultural organization. Projects should also engage in partnership with other sectors, such as agriculture and food, economic development, education and youth, environment and energy, health, housing, public safety, transportation, and workforce development. Applications are due to grants.gov by August 4, 2022, and to the NEA applicant portal by August 16, 2022.

FREE: What Nonprofits Need to Know About Smart Tech
Smart tech is becoming embedded in nonprofit work, freeing up staff to focus on donor retention, program innovation, and better work-life balance. Learn what's needed to reinvent work and achieve transformative impact with an ethical and human-centered approach to adopting smart tech. In their book, The Smart Nonprofit, Beth Kanter and Allison Fine use "smart tech" as an umbrella term for advanced digital technologies that make decisions for people. It includes artificial intelligence (AI) and its subsets and cousins, such as machine learning, natural language processing, smart forms, chatbots, robots, and more. During this webinar, Beth Kanter and Allison Fine will provide an overview of what smart tech is and does, inspiring use-cases, and why it is important for nonprofits to integrate it carefully into their organizations. They will also offer a framework for successfully using smart tech that includes staying human-centered, preparing your people and organization for implementing smart tech, and staying knowledgeable and reflective. They will also share tips for broad stakeholder engagement, including senior leadership, in the planning and implementation of smart tech. The webinar will be held on Tuesday, July 12, 2022.

Exploring Social Entrepreneurship
This webinar will give participants an introduction to the concept of social enterprise and how to employ business principles to make social change. Mindy Muller, President/CEO of Community Development Professionals, LLC, will discuss using social enterprise to raise funds within nonprofits, as for-profit businesses, and how to create a business to employ the hardest to serve residents of a community. This training is appropriate for people interested in launching a mission-driven business, nonprofits considering raising money through social enterprise, or others interested in learning more about applying business principles in mission-driven work. Participants will have the opportunity to develop working knowledge of concepts of social enterprise and entrepreneurship, learn various business structures of social enterprise, and explore how to increase organizational impact through deployment of social enterprise constructs. The webinar will be held on Wednesday, July 13, 2022.
