Opportunities Related to the COVID-19 Pandemic

XPRIZE Rapid Covid Testing
XPRIZE Rapid Covid Testing is a $5 million dollar, six-month competition to develop innovative, scalable COVID-19 testing solutions that will radically change the world by providing much needed insights to help society safely reopen. Applying teams can be comprised of university groups, high school students, startups and innovators, small to midsize companies, or individuals anywhere in the world. The registration deadline is August 31, 2020.

Center for Sharing Public Health Services: 2020 Small Grants Program
The Center for Sharing Public Health Services is offering small grants to support work on cross-jurisdictional sharing arrangements designed to advance health equity by addressing the public health response to COVID-19, social determinants of health, structural racism, or other related issues. Eligible applicants include nonprofit organizations, state or local government public health agencies and military public health departments, and American Indian and Alaska Native tribes or tribal entities. Up to five awards of up to $10,000 will be made. The application deadline is September 11, 2020.

Texas Women's Foundation: Resilience Fund
The Texas Women's Foundation's Resilience Fund provides grants to nonprofit organizations in Dallas, Collin, Denton, and Tarrant counties, and the immediate surrounding North Texas area. The focus is on organizations that address the impact of COVID-19 for women and girls in economically vulnerable populations, particularly women and girls who have been victims of systemic racism and have been historically underserved. Grants will be awarded in the range of $5,000 to $30,000. Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis until funds are expended.

Support for Initiatives to Enhance College Programs in Prison
Andrew W. Mellon Foundation: The Future of Higher Learning in Prison
The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation is inviting proposals from nonprofit organizations in the United States that focus on the future of higher learning for incarcerated students. The focus is on organizations who are imagining and implementing visionary educational practices, who are interrogating the linkages between education and liberation, and who place the humanities at the center of their work. This competition is open to both providers of college-in-prison programs and to those affiliated with or offering support to such programs, including transfer pathway support, career advising, and general counseling support for those leaving incarceration and matriculating to another college or university. Grants will range from $250,000 to $1,000,000, for use over a two-year period. The registration deadline is August 21, 2020; applications must be submitted by August 28, 2020. Technology-Driven Programs to Address Challenges Funded
AWS Imagine Grant Program
The AWS (Amazon Web Services) Imagine Grant Program supports nonprofit organizations in the United States who are using technology to solve the world's most pressing challenges. The goal is to empower nonprofit organizations to prioritize technology as a mission-critical component of their projects and to provide support for organizations pursuing technology-driven goals. The focus is on proposals for pilot projects, proofs of concept, strategic technology planning, or existing programs that utilize technology in a new or expanded way. Selected organizations receive up to $100,000 of unrestricted financial support and up to $100,000 in AWS Promotional Credits along with in-kind and technical support. Online applications may be submitted from September 15 to September 30, 2020. Visit the AWS website to download the funding guidelines.

Grants Foster the Development and Maintenance of Public Green Spaces
Hydro Flask: Parks for All
Parks for All, the charitable giving program of Hydro Flask, supports the development, maintenance, and accessibility of public green spaces so people everywhere can live healthier, happier, and more fulfilled lives. Grants are provided to national nonprofit organizations in the United States (organizations covering at least five states), as well as regional organizations in the following states: Alaska, California, Connecticut, Florida, Minnesota, Oregon, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Vermont, Washington, and Wisconsin. Charitable organizations in Ontario and Yukon Territory in Canada, as well as in Germany and the United Kingdom are also eligible to apply. Applying organizations must be dedicated to building, restoring, maintaining, or providing public access to parks and recreational public lands or beaches and coastal areas. Grants are provided in the following categories: New Parks, Park Access/Education, and Park Maintenance/Restoration. Grants range from $10,000 to $50,000. The application deadline for organizations in the U.S. and Canada is September 11, 2020, and September 25, 2020, for organizations in Germany and the United Kingdom. Efforts to Break the Cycle of Poverty Supported
Catholic Campaign for Human Development
The Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD), established by the Catholic bishops of the United States, is committed to supporting organizations led by low-income individuals as they work to break the cycle of poverty and improve their communities. CCHD's grant programs include the following: Community Development Grants support nonprofit organizations that are led by people living in poverty and work to address the root causes of poverty. Economic Development Grants support economic development initiatives that include the voice of the poor and marginalized in developing new businesses that offer good jobs or develop assets that will be owned by local communities. Grants range between $25,000 and $75,000. Pre-applications for both programs may be submitted between September 1 and November 1, annually; the online application deadline is January 15, annually. Funds for Behavioral Health Initiatives in Alaska and Washington State
Premera Social Impact Program
The Premera Social Impact Program supports nonprofit organizations in Alaska and Washington State that address behavioral health issues. A particular emphasis is placed on funding programs that help historically underserved communities, including people of color and low-income populations. Additional areas of interest include health equity, and the intersection of homelessness and behavioral health. Requests may be submitted throughout the year. Grants Enhance Company Communities in the U.S. and Canada
Weyerhaeuser Giving Fund
The Weyerhaeuser Giving Fund is dedicated to enriching the quality of life in company communities, and fostering the understanding of the importance of sustainable working forests. Grants are provided to nonprofit organizations that serve communities with major Weyerhaeuser facilities in the U.S. and Canada. The Fund's five focus areas include affordable housing and shelter, education and youth development, environmental stewardship, workforce development, and human services and civic and cultural growth. Support for Social Justice and Environmental Projects in Colorado
Wolcott Family Foundation
The Wolcott Family Foundation supports nonprofit grassroots organizations in Colorado that address social change and environmental stewardship. The Foundation's focus is on projects that emphasize environmental preservation, advocacy, and community involvement aimed at root causes of societal problems. Priority is given to organizations that empower individuals and communities to organize for social change; seek to strengthen civil liberties and civil rights issues; build community development that seeks to break the cycle of poverty, create economic opportunity, and build effective leadership in distressed communities; and demonstrate linkages and interdependence of ecosystems and economics with win-win solutions and collaborative approaches. Organizations in Iowa and Wisconsin Funded
Alliant Energy Foundation
The Alliant Energy Foundation is dedicated to improving the quality of life in the communities the company serves in Iowa and Wisconsin. The Foundation's Community Grants Program provides support in four categories: Hunger and Housing; Workforce Readiness; Environmental Stewardship; and Diversity, Safety and Wellbeing. Grants typically range from $500 to $5,000, with an average grant of $2,500. The current application cycle closes on September 1, 2020. (Corporate sponsorships are also provided and requests for this program may be submitted throughout the year.) Details about the Community Grants Program are available on the Foundation's website.

Department of Housing and Urban Development
The Community Compass Technical Assistance and Capacity Building Program seeks to help HUD's customers navigate complex housing and community development challenges by equipping them with the knowledge, skills, tools, capacity, and systems to implement HUD programs and policies successfully and sustainably and provide effective administrative and managerial oversight of HUD funding. The application deadline is September 21, 2020.

Program Supports Agricultural Workforce Development
Department of Agriculture
The Agriculture and Food Research Initiative: Education and Workforce Development opportunity focuses on developing the next generation of research, education, and extension professionals in the food and agricultural sciences. Program areas include professional development for agricultural literacy, training of undergraduate students in research and extension, fellowships for predoctoral candidates and postdoctoral scholars, and agricultural workforce training. The application deadline is September 24, 2020.
