Ask the Funder

After completing your funding research, you may have several clarifying questions that you need to ask the funder. For example, if you have two projects that might interest them, it would be helpful to get their feedback on which one is more in step with their priorities. You don’t need to guess at their answer, you can ask the funder directly.

If possible, contact each potential funder to determine how closely your organization or project matches their guidelines. Obviously, if the grantmaker has application guidelines, you should follow them precisely. However, if they do not have a process already in place, then contact them either by email, phone, or a face-to-face meeting.
