"Connecting our Members with the Right Grantmakers since 1999."
The Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) was established to fund research that can help patients and those who care for them make better-informed decisions about the healthcare choices they face every day, guided by those who will use that information.
The Eugene Washington PCORI Engagement Awards program aims to include patients, caregivers, clinicians, and other healthcare stakeholders in the research process.
The goal is to support projects that build communities prepared to participate in patient-centered outcomes research (PCOR) and comparative clinical effectiveness research (CER), as well as to serve as channels for disseminating study results.
Applications are accepted for three types of engagement projects:
- Engagement Award: Dissemination Initiative
Support is provided for organizations and communities to actively disseminate PCORI-funded research findings individually or as part of the body of relevant existing evidence. These projects aim to spread awareness and increase knowledge of evidence from PCORI-funded research. The projects directly target patients, clinicians, and others who can use this information to inform their healthcare decisions. Grants of up to $300,000 for up to two years are provided.
- Engagement Award: Capacity Building
Support is provided for projects that aim to build a community of individuals and organizations that is prepared to participate in PCOR or CER, or develop infrastructure and partnerships to disseminate PCORI-funded research results, or both. These projects may focus on building the knowledge, competencies, and abilities of patients and other stakeholders so that they may become meaningful partners in research. These projects may also develop, demonstrate, and evaluate the processes, pathways, or mechanisms necessary to incorporate PCOR or CER results into decision-making settings. Grants of up to $250,000 for up to two years are provided.
- Engagement Award: Conference Support
Support is provided for conferences, workshops, and other meetings at which individuals gather to explore issues related to PCOR or CER, or communicate PCORI-funded research results to targeted audiences. Grants of up to $50,000 for up to one year are provided.
Engagement Awards do not fund research studies.
Application guidelines are available on the PCORI website.
