The Women’s Economic Empowerment in a Low-Carbon COVID-19 Recovery call for proposals supports projects that will support the generation and use of nationally and locally relevant evidence on women’s economic empowerment in a low-carbon COVID-19 recovery in the Global South. Projects should support the generation of solutions-oriented, local research and evidence that helps address the specific and systemic barriers women face during and after the COVID-19 pandemic and in accessing opportunities that arise in new low-carbon economic activities. Projects should address new barriers that have arisen during the pandemic, the continued disproportionate burden of unpaid care work and gendered social norms, and ways to support and scale women-led initiatives that promote sustainable recovery.

In response to the severe impact of the pandemic, the Amazonia Rainforest Journalism Fund and the Pulitzer Center are opening a new call for proposals for journalism grants to cover stories about the region in the times of a pandemic. OutRight Action International's COVID-19 Global LGBTIQ Emergency Fund provides direct support in solidarity with LGBTIQ organizations and people on the frontline. In this round of grantmaking, support will be provided for urgent needs that have arisen as a result of the COVID-19 health crisis, but with a focus on the following areas: food scarcity, medium- and long-term livelihood generation, and poverty reduction; movement resilience, including core support for LGBTIQ organizations that are threatened in their existence due to immediate loss of funding linked to COVID; combating violence, including addressing the rise in cases of gender-based violence, domestic violence, and family violence; and human rights violations documentation. Grants range from $5,000 up to $20,000. To be eligible for a grant, organizations must work directly with and for LGBTIQ people (including MSM groups, trans groups, LBQ groups, and intersex groups), and be based outside the USA, Canada, the European Economic Area, the UK, Switzerland, Australia, or New Zealand.
