The New Federal Funder Database

| GS INSIGHTS

GrantStation has revamped the US Federal search interface and functionality. In this article I’ll show you what’s changed and how to best make use of this new feature.

Our US Federal search tool allows you to search through thousands of active federal grant opportunities.  You can search by keyword, funding opportunity number, CFDA number, or by eligible applicants, areas of interest, and funding agencies.

This data comes directly from grants.gov and is updated nightly with the most recent opportunities. Using the filters we provide you can find current federal grant opportunities that match your organization’s funding needs.

Read the basics of how to use the Federal search filters.

Once you’ve done a search by applying your filters or searching by keywords or numbers you will see results on the left, for example:

The results will display the opportunity title, agency, post date, and close date. The default sort is by ‘post date’ but you can change that to sort by any of the columns just by clicking the column headings.

Once you find an opportunity that looks interesting you can click the link of the opportunity title. The opportunity listing will load in a separate tab. Here is an example opportunity:

The opportunity title and a description of the opportunity will be displayed on the left.

On the right you’ll see links to view the opportunity on grants.gov directly, or to use our email profile feature to email the profile to a friend, colleague, or yourself for review or printing.

Also on the right, you’ll see lots of useful information including the following:

  • Agency and opportunity contact information
  • Financial information including minimum and maximum award and total giving
  • Eligible applicants and additional eligibility information (if provided)
  • Funding opportunity number
  • CFDA numbers
  • Post and close dates
  • Link to additional information (if provided)

By using this information as well as using our other search tools such as the US Charitable search you should be able to find the funders you need to support your projects.
