Wildlife Habitat Canada (WHC) supports conservation initiatives for wildlife and their habitats across Canada.

Grants are provided through the following programs:

  • the Land Trusts Conservation Fund, which supports Canadian charity land trusts in securing land that contributes to the achievement of the terrestrial and inland water elements of Target 1 of Canada’s 2020 Biodiversity Goals and targets and the protection of habitat for the recovery of Species at Risk Act (SARA) listed species at risk and the prevention of other species from becoming listed under SARA;
  • the Habitat Conservation Stamp Initiative, which supports habitat conservation, restoration, enhancement, research, or networking projects with a focus on wetlands, waterfowl, and migratory game birds; and,
  • the Community Conservation Action Program, which supports grassroots efforts to connect Canadians with nature and deliver conservation achievements on-the-ground, including engaging youth in conservation and educational conservation programming.

In order to be eligible for support, matching funds must be demonstrated.
