Clif Family Foundation

Application deadline: The upcoming deadline is August 1, 2024.
Description: The Clif Family Foundation supports grassroots nonprofit organizations with inspiring ideas in the United States. The Foundation’s funding priorities include strengthening the food system, enhancing equitable community health outcomes, and safeguarding the environment and natural resources. Priority is given to applicants that address two or more of the funding priorities at the same time, demonstrate strong community ties, and operate within viable and clearly defined plans for positive change. Both general operating and project support are provided.

Grants Facilitate Animal Sheltering and Adoptions

Petco Love: Animal Welfare Organizations

Application deadline: July 31, 2024
Description: Petco Love, formerly the Petco Foundation, seeks to change lives by making communities and pet families closer, stronger, and healthier. Petco Love’s application cycle for animal welfare organizations performing sheltering and adoptions is currently open. Support is provided to the following types of organizations in the United States: 1) animal control agencies and nonprofit organizations responsible for animal control sheltering; 2) SPCA and humane societies and other nonprofits that perform sheltering and adoptions of companion animals and operate primarily out of an animal sheltering facility; and 3) nonprofit organizations that are primarily foster-based rescues. (Other grant opportunities, available throughout the year or during specific application periods, focus on access to care, free vaccine services, and disaster relief.)

Support Promotes Entrepreneur and Investor Diversity

Nasdaq Foundation: Quarterly Grant Program

Application deadlines: The remaining quarterly deadlines for 2024 are August 9 and November 8.
Grant amount: Grants average $75,000.
Description: The Nasdaq Foundation works with organizations in the United States that promote and support under-resourced communities by reimagining investor engagement and equipping communities with the financial knowledge needed to share in the wealth that markets create. The Foundation’s Quarterly Grant Program provides support in two areas of focus: 1) programs designed to empower diverse investors with the financial knowledge and confidence they need to share in the wealth that markets can create, including programs that enhance financial literacy among women and under-represented communities or improve access to knowledge and tools among these two groups; and 2) programs designed to support women and under-represented minority communities with the resources needed to grow and sustain their businesses, including programs that equip women and diverse founders with mentoring and resources or improve their access to capital.

Funds Enhance Youth Running Programs

Road Runners Club of America: Kids Run the Nation Grant Fund

Application deadline: August 1, 2024
Grant amount: $500 to $1,000
Description: The Kids Run the Nation Grant Fund, an initiative of the Road Runners Club of America (RRCA), provides financial assistance to running clubs, schools, and community-based nonprofit organizations throughout the U.S. for youth running programs. Programs should have kids running regularly, more than once each week for multiple weeks (as opposed to participating in a one-time event), and should be structured running programs incorporating educational topics and running activities, ideally utilizing the RRCA’s Kids Run the Nation curriculum. Running clubs and nonprofit organizations are eligible to apply, as well as elementary and middle schools that provide an organized after-school running program.

Grants Advance Arts and Heritage in Louisiana

New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation: Community Partnership Grants

Application deadlines: June 21, 2024, for education grant categories, and July 8, 2024, for Presenting, Media-Documentation, and Louisiana Cultural Equity & Creation grants 
Geographic scope: Louisiana
Grant amount: Up to $7,500
Description: The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation promotes, preserves, perpetuates, and encourages the music, culture, and heritage of communities in Louisiana. The Foundation’s Community Partnership Grants of up to $7,500 support music and art education programs, cultural events put on by Louisiana arts-based nonprofits, new artistic works that interpret Louisiana culture, and other projects. Support is provided to schools, artists, and arts-based nonprofit organizations throughout the state in the following categories: In-School Education Programs in Music, Arts, and Cultural Traditions; After-School and Summer Education Programs in Music, Arts, and Cultural Traditions; Presenting: Festivals and Concerts in Music and Performing Arts; Media- Documentation & Creation; and Louisiana Cultural Equity Arts & Creation.

Digital Education and Technology Access Supported

Spectrum Digital Education Grant

Application deadline: June 26, 2024
Geographic scope: Communities located in a Spectrum service area
Grant amount: $2,500 to $50,000
Description: The Spectrum Digital Education Grant, a program from Charter Communications, which operates the Spectrum brand of connectivity and entertainment services, supports nonprofit organizations that work to expand access to digital connectivity tools, education, and resources. Support is provided to nonprofits serving communities located in Spectrum’s 41-state service area whose work includes digital skills training, professional advancement opportunities, and technology and resources needed for education. Supported programs should focus on families or seniors in unserved and underserved communities, and have a lasting and tangible impact through, for example, the development of a new digital site or app, the expansion of the capacity of a digital learning center, or the creation of a mobile computer lab.

Funding Addresses Needs of LGBTQ Mississippians

LGBTQ Fund of Mississippi

Application deadline: June 28, 2024
Geographic scope: Mississippi
Grant amount: Planning grants range up to $5,000, while general operating grants range up to $15,000, and research grants range up to $10,000.
Description: The LGBTQ Fund of Mississippi envisions a state where all LGBTQ Mississippians live safely, openly, and without isolation, prejudice, and discrimination. The Fund’s grant program supports planning, research, and general operations that address priority needs of LGBTQ Mississippians. Special attention will be paid to proposals that demonstrate a commitment to addressing the needs of LGBTQ communities that have been most demonstrably underserved, including but not limited to, communities of color, youth, seniors, and persons in rural communities. Intersectional programs addressing faith and acceptance and efforts serving transgender and gender non-conforming persons are also of special interest.

Grants Strengthen Wildlife Conservation in Nevada

Nevada Dream Tags Charitable Fund

Application deadline: July 26, 2024 (Emergency requests are considered year-round.)
Geographic scope: Nevada
Description: The Nevada Dream Tags Charitable Fund, administered by the Community Foundation of Northern Nevada, provides funding to engage Nevadans in wildlife conservation. The aim is to restore resilience in at-risk Nevada habitats through support of collaborative projects focused on the preservation, protection, management, or restoration of big game, other wildlife, and their habitat. Proposals are encouraged that improve, protect, or restore habitat, especially for Nevada’s big game; embrace unique opportunities for advancing wildlife conservation in Nevada; and address emergency needs. Applicants must be registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit agencies, nonprofit educational institutions, or governmental entities.

Funds Available to Help Expand Critical Sector Jobs

Department of Labor

Application deadline: July 15, 2024
Description: The purpose of the Critical Sector Job Quality Grants demonstration program is to support transformative efforts to improve job quality and availability of good jobs, particularly for the benefit of historically marginalized populations and communities that have experienced barriers to employment in good jobs. The primary focus of these demonstration grants is expanding job quality in the care, climate resiliency, and hospitality sectors. Projects under this announcement will fund both short-term capacity-building planning grants to support initial convening and strategizing for future impacts as well as longer-term implementation grants that will use existing sector partnerships to directly impact job quality within the chosen sector.

Outdoor Programs for Active Duty Service Members Supported

Application deadline: July 15, 2024
Description: The Military Families Outdoors Program focuses on promoting the health and wellness of active duty service members and their families through positive engagement experiences with national parks, public lands, and waterways. Nature-based health promotion activities should include a focus on education, recreation, outdoor skills-building, or outdoor conservation projects. The total menu of program opportunities offered should work together to build confidence in participants to engage with national parks, public lands, and waterways throughout their lifetimes.
