Prizes Benefit AAPI Organizationshands

Gold Futures Challenge

Application deadline: Applications will be accepted from May 15, 2023, to June 15, 2023.  
Grant amount: Grand prize of $100,000; 2nd and 3rd place prizes of $75,000; 4th, 5th, and 6th place prizes of $50,000; and four prizes of $25,000  
Description: The Gold Futures Challenge, hosted by Asian American Futures and Gold House, awards ten prizes totaling $500,000 to Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) organizations in the United States. The awards benefit organizations that seek to ensure AAPI communities are seen, heard, empowered, and united. In addition to grants, winners receive non-cash rewards including membership into the Gold House Future Network, an invitation to participate in the Node Institute, and a one-year subscription to Catchafire. Nonprofit organizations, fiscally-sponsored projects, and governmental organizations serving AAPI individuals or communities are eligible to apply.

FM Global Fire Prevention Grant Program

Application deadline: The remaining 2023 deadlines are June 30, September 30, and December 31.  
Grant amount: The average grant award is $2,500.  
Description: Through its Fire Prevention Grant Program, FM Global supports organizations in the United States working to combat fire. Fire departments and brigades, as well as national, state, regional, local, and community organizations can apply for funding to support a wide array of fire prevention, preparedness, and control efforts, including pre-incident planning, fire prevention education and training, and arson prevention or fire investigation. Applicants must be a governmental unit or a nonprofit organization.

Grants Advance Reproductive and Social Justicepeople

Groundswell Fund: Rapid Response Fund

Application deadline: Applications are currently being accepted.  
Geographic scope: United States and U.S. territories  
Description: The Groundswell Fund's Rapid Response Fund provides fast funding to grassroots organizations led by women of color, trans people of color, and low-income women and trans people in critical but unexpected fights to protect and advance reproductive and social justice. Support is provided throughout the United States and U.S. territories, with a focus on states and communities where women of color, transgender people of color, low-income women, and gender expansive people of color-led organizing is under-resourced. Requests must involve responses to unanticipated events or political moments, or new or unexpected critical opportunities or threats that require urgent or timely action, and should center both base building and grassroots organizing as tools to build power. Organizations led by a majority women of color or transgender or gender expansive people of color are eligible to apply.

Higher Education Efforts Fundeddiploma

ECMC Foundation

Application deadline: None for letters of inquiry  
Description: The mission of ECMC Foundation is to improve higher education for career success among underserved populations in the United States through evidence-based innovation. Support is provided for efforts that fit within the Foundation’s strategic priorities: 1) removing barriers to post-secondary completion, including programs that directly support learner success; 2) building the capacity of higher education organizations, institutions, and systems to improve outcomes for learners and evolve to meet changing needs; and 3) transforming the post-secondary ecosystem, including large-scale, cross-sector collaborations in service of more equitable outcomes. A substantial portion of grantmaking targets the Foundation’s initiatives, which currently include a focus on basic needs, men of color, single mother student success, transfer and credit mobility, and career and technical education leadership. In addition, the Foundation makes grants and investments through an open letter of inquiry process for projects connected to one or more of the strategic priorities. Nonprofit organizations, government entities, and post-secondary institutions and systems are eligible to apply.

Umpqua Bank Charitable Foundation: Community Grants

Application deadlines: The remaining 2023 deadlines are June 2 and September 1.  
Geographic scope: Company communities in California, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon, and Washington  
Grant amount: $5,000 to $10,000  
Description: The Umpqua Bank Charitable Foundation is dedicated to building healthier, more resilient, better connected, and inclusive communities throughout the bank’s footprint. Through the Community Grants program, the Foundation provides support to nonprofit organizations serving communities where Umpqua Bank maintains a physical location, including communities in California, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon, and Washington. Support focuses on the following areas: economically empowered individuals, including college and career readiness, financial competency, and housing stability; vibrant business ecosystems, including entrepreneurship and business expansion and small business support; and thriving communities, including family engagement and resiliency, vibrant and equitable neighborhoods, and technical and digital connectivity. Funded programs must serve a majority low-to-moderate income population, with priority given to programs benefiting under-resourced communities.

Alzheimer’s and Dementia Programs Supported in Michiganhead with gear

Michigan Public Health Institute: Community-Based Dementia Mini-Grant

Application deadline: May 25, 2023  
Geographic scope: Michigan  
Grant amount: Approximately ten grants ranging from $5,000 to $20,000 will be provided.  
Description: The Michigan Public Health Institute’s Community-Based Dementia Mini-Grant funding opportunity supports programs in Michigan with a focus on Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias. Grants should promote one of the following: education about brain health, cognitive aging, and cognitive decline risk factors; education on Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias; education on early detection and diagnosis; education on effective care planning at all stages of dementia; engagement of care partners in care management strategies; and strategies for optimizing health and well-being for those impacted by dementia and their caregivers. Supported activities should educate the public, integrate the best available evidence about brain health and cognitive decline risk factors into existing health communications, or foster continuing education for healthcare professionals. Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation: Globe Life Texas Rangers Baseball and Softball Grant Program

Application deadline: June 30, 2023  
Geographic scope: Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas  
Description: Globe Life and the Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation provide grants annually to nonprofit organizations across Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas for youth baseball and softball programs. The Foundation is committed to supporting the growth of baseball and softball and making sure that every child is afforded the opportunity to experience joy and community through sports. Funding is provided for field renovations, equipment needs, uniforms, and league development for teams throughout the five-state territory. Nonprofit organizations, schools, cities, municipalities, and other organizations that provide baseball or softball programming are eligible to apply.

Mother Cabrini Health Foundation

Geographic scope: New York  
Grant amount: $75,000 or greater  
Description: The Mother Cabrini Health Foundation supports direct service programs that meet the unmet healthcare and healthcare-related needs of individuals, families, and communities throughout the state of New York. Program areas include access to healthcare, basic needs, the healthcare workforce, and mental and behavioral health. Support is also provided through the General Fund for projects that do not fit within the program areas but that advance the health and well-being of the following priority populations: immigrants, justice-involved individuals, low-income individuals and families, older adults, people with disabilities, veterans, young children, pregnant women, new moms and dads, and youth and young adults. Nonprofit organizations in New York with annual budgets of $750,000 or more are eligible to apply, and grants must benefit poor, disadvantaged, or underserved New York residents.

Description: The Creative Arts Exchange (CAE) is an open competition for up to three cooperative agreements to support thematic projects in film, music, and musical collaboration as civic engagement. Thematic projects under the CAE are arts-based, international, people-to-people exchanges that create partnerships through artistic collaboration and professional development activities, encourage inclusive economic opportunities, demonstrate the power of free expression to strengthen democratic values, and support U.S. Department of State foreign policy objectives. In FY 2023, CAE will focus on film (American Film Showcase), music (American Music Abroad), and musical collaboration as civic engagement (OneBeat). The program is open to U.S. public and private academic and cultural institutions, exchange-of-persons, and other 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations.

Department of Agriculture

Description: The Rural Housing Preservation Grant program offers support to assist low- and very-low-income homeowners in repairing and rehabilitating their homes in rural areas. The program also assists rental property owners and cooperative housing complexes in repairing and rehabilitating their units if they agree to make such units available to low- and very-low-income persons.
