Grants Target Poverty in the United States
Catholic Campaign for Human Development

The Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD) is the domestic anti-poverty, social justice program of the U.S. Catholic bishops. CCHD's mission is to address the root causes of poverty in the United States through promotion and support of community-controlled, self-help organizations and through transformative education. CCHD's Community Development Grant Program supports efforts that are led by people living in poverty and work to address the root causes of poverty by nurturing solidarity between the poor and non-poor and facilitating the participation of people living in poverty in decisions that perpetuate poverty in their lives. The Economic Development Grant Program supports economic development initiatives that significantly include the voice of the poor and marginalized in developing new businesses that offer good jobs or develop assets that will be owned and enjoyed by local communities. Grants range from $25,000 to $75,000. (Applicant organizations must not promote activities that work against Catholic values.) Pre-applications for both programs are accepted until November 1, 2022. Visit the CCHD website to review the criteria and guidelines for both grant programs.

Upcoming Online Education Trainings
Live Webinars

Unless otherwise noted, all Online Education Trainings are webinars,
are 90 minutes in duration, and are scheduled to begin at 2 PM Eastern Time.

FREE: Tour of the GrantStation Website
Join Jeremy Smith, Director of Communications Technology, and Kerry Glauser, Senior Research Specialist, for a quick tour of the GrantStation website. Jeremy will demonstrate all of the GrantStation features including how to best use the searchable databases of private funders, how to navigate government funding sources, and how to set up and use your personal dashboard. This quick overview is a great way for current Members to ensure that they are getting the most out of their Membership, and for potential Members to see GrantStation in action! The webinar will be held on Tuesday, September 20, 2022.

Making Friends With Funders
Make no mistake about it: Grantseeking is a people-driven process. And the key to your success is the grantmakers themselves—the people who make the decisions about awards from corporate, foundation, and government sources. But who are these people? How do we connect with them? And what do they want from you anyway? Being a grantmaker isn't as easy as you might think. In this lively session, longtime grant pro and grantmaking program officer Maryn Boess pulls from her own grantmaking experience (and that of dozens of other private and public program officers, reviewers, and decision-makers) to give you a realistic, behind-the-scenes look at what it takes to create funder relationships that are authentic, high-integrity, and that work for you. We'll pull back the curtain on the realities of life as a grantmaker—and what your proposal is really up against "on the other side." You'll learn what grantmakers love, what makes them grumpy, and how you can be sure you're delivering what they really want, every time! Come prepared for surprises, "ahas," and a whole lot of powerful take-aways you can put to work in your own grantseeking right away. The webinar will be held on Thursday, September 22, 2022.

Strategic Planning: The Beginning
Did you know that your organization can double your chances for success simply by creating a current and relevant strategic plan to guide growth? Unfortunately, more than 70% of nonprofits that have a written plan admit that the document is sitting on a shelf collecting dust, and we want to make sure yours is not one of them! During this webinar, Marie Palacios, Lead Consultant at Funding for Good, will break down the ten things every organization should know before drafting the final document. This webinar is perfect for you if you're seeking to begin a planning process that engages your entire team and produces a realistic action-focused plan. You will walk away with a greater understanding of different approaches to the process, professional tips on what works and what does not, and an arsenal of strategies to generate buy-in from your board, staff, and stakeholders. The webinar will be held on Thursday, September 29, 2022.
