Funds Assist Animal Sheltering and Adoption Organizations
Petco Love: Animal Welfare Organizations
Application deadline: July 31, 2023
Description: Petco Love (formerly Petco Foundation) seeks to create a better world for animals and the people who love and need them. Petco Love’s application cycle for animal welfare organizations performing sheltering and adoptions is currently open. Support is provided to the following types of organizations in the United States: 1) animal control agencies and nonprofit organizations responsible for animal control sheltering; 2) SPCA and humane societies and other nonprofits that perform sheltering and adoptions of companion animals and operate primarily out of an animal sheltering facility; and 3) nonprofit organizations that are primarily foster-based rescues.
Solutions Advancing Economic Mobility Supported
New Profit: Economic Mobility Catalyze Cohort
Application deadline: June 26, 2023
Grant amount: $100,000
Description: Through the Economic Mobility Catalyze Cohort, New Profit seeks to invest in 16 social impact organizations that are building breakthrough solutions to advance economic mobility in the United States, with emphasis on supporting Black, Indigenous, and Latinx leaders. New Profit will provide $100,000 in catalytic, unrestricted funding to organizations driving economic mobility through interventions in the following areas: social drivers of employment outcomes (enabling conditions that play an essential role in labor market participation), pathways to income generation (creating opportunities that lead to gainful employment), and financial health and wealth creation (advancing strategies to build long-term wealth). Applicants must be a nonprofit organization or have a nonprofit fiscal sponsor, have an annual operating budget between $250,000 and $2 million, be led by a social entrepreneur, have been in operation for at least two years, and be willing to actively engage as a cohort member over the course of one year. In addition to financial support, selected cohort members receive participation in a peer learning community, leadership coaching, consultations with external content experts, and a capacity-building framework and tools.
Grants Promote K-12 Classroom STEM Projects
Toshiba America Foundation
Application deadlines: The application deadline for grade K-5 applications (up to $1,000) is October 1, annually. Application deadlines for grades 6-12 for grants of up to $5,000 are March 1, June 1, September 1, and December 1, annually. The deadlines for grade 6-12 grant requests of more than $5,000 are May 1 and November 1, annually.
Description: Toshiba America Foundation (TAF) is dedicated to helping classroom teachers make STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) learning fun and exciting for students in U.S. schools. TAF funds innovative STEM projects designed by teachers for use in their own schools and classrooms. Teachers at public and nonprofit private schools throughout the United States are eligible to apply.
Responsible Boating Programs Funded
BoatUS Foundation: Grassroots Grants Program
Application deadline: None for letters of intent
Grant amount: Up to $10,000
Description: The aim of the BoatUS Foundation is to reduce accidents and fatalities, increase stewardship of U.S. waterways, and keep boating a safe and enjoyable pastime. The Foundation’s Grassroots Grants Program provides grants for creative and innovative projects that promote safe and clean boating on local waterways. Past topics have ranged from PSAs on the effects of boating under the influence to hands-on education about the effects of marine debris. Local, regional, and national nonprofit organizations as well as boating clubs, environmental organizations, and student groups are eligible to apply.

Grants Enhance Music and the Arts in Louisiana
New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation: Community Partnership Grants

Geographic scope: Louisiana
Grant amount: Up to $5,000
Description: The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation seeks to make quality arts programs accessible throughout Louisiana and support the artists and nonprofits that create them. Through the Community Partnership Grants program, the Foundation provides grants to schools, artists, and arts-based nonprofit organizations throughout the state to support music and art education, cultural events, new artistic works that interpret Louisiana culture, and other projects. Grants are available in five categories: In-School Education Programs in Music, Arts, and Cultural Traditions; After-School and Summer Education Programs in Music, Arts, and Cultural Traditions; Presenting: Festivals and Concerts in Music and Performing Arts; Media – Documentation + Creation; and Louisiana Cultural Equity Arts.
Support Seeks to Protect Illinois Natural Areas
Illinois Clean Energy Community Foundation: Natural Areas Program
Application deadline: July 20, 2023
Geographic scope: Illinois
Description: The mission of the Illinois Clean Energy Community Foundation is to improve energy efficiency, advance the development and use of renewable energy resources, and protect natural areas and wildlife habitat in communities across Illinois. The Foundation’s Natural Areas Program is accepting applications through two programs: The Community Stewardship Challenge Grant program aims to encourage increased community participation in the care of natural areas and wildlife habitat. Support is provided to nonprofit organizations that actively engage volunteers in the management of publicly-accessible natural areas in Illinois. The Land Acquisition Program supports the protection of wildlife habitat at natural areas throughout the state through the purchase of land. Eligible projects should purchase 40 acres or more of natural habitat; be identified as a priority for protection by a local, regional, or statewide conservation planning process; connect to previously protected natural areas; and be open to the public.
Funding Fosters Youth Empowerment in 13 U.S. Cities
Foot Locker Foundation Community Empowerment Program
Application deadline: August 30, 2023
Geographic scope: 13 U.S. cities
Grant amount: $25,000 to $100,000
Description: The Foot Locker Foundation Community Empowerment Program, offered by LISC and Foot Locker, Inc., through the Foot Locker Foundation, supports nonprofit community organizations in 13 cities that empower youth in underserved communities. Eligible cities include Los Angeles, Oakland, and San Francisco, CA; Atlanta, GA; Chicago, IL; Baltimore, MD; Detroit, MI; Newark, NJ; New York City, NY; Philadelphia, PA; Dallas and Houston, TX; and Washington DC. Grants ranging from $25,000 to $75,000 support current youth programming, creating new programming, or extending existing programming over one year. Grants ranging from $25,000 to $100,000 support capital improvement projects that enhance the impact of youth programming over one year. Applicant organizations should primarily serve youth in under-resourced communities with programs and services focused on health and wellness, education and life skills support, mentoring, or career development; include people of color in their leadership ranks; maintain at least one full-time staff person focused on youth programming; operate in underserved communities within the 13 eligible cities; and be able to engage local Foot Locker, Inc. store team members in volunteer activities tied to the proposed program.
Efforts Improving Equity in Oregon's Criminal Legal System Supported
Northwest Health Foundation: Justice Reinvestment Equity Program
Application deadline: July 12, 2023
Geographic scope: Oregon
Grant amount: Project grants up to $225,000 and project grants with capacity-building support of up to $325,000 will be provided.
Description: The Northwest Health Foundation’s Justice Reinvestment Equity Program (JREP) supports culturally specific organizations and culturally responsive services in communities most harmed and least helped by Oregon’s criminal legal system. JREP’s goals are to reduce incarceration and racial disparities in the criminal legal system, advance healing, and promote community safety in Oregon. JREP will provide up to $5.5 million in project grants to support emerging and experienced organizations, including $1.5 million in grant funds to participate in a capacity-building program. Funding priority areas are victim and survivor services; violence reduction and services that prevent involvement in the criminal legal system; and reentry, diversion, and services that reduce involvement in the criminal legal system. Nonprofit organizations, programs with a nonprofit fiscal sponsor, and federally recognized tribal governments are eligible to apply.

Program Helps LGBTQI+ Youth and Families

Description: The purpose of the Family Counseling and Support for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer/Questioning, Intersex+ Youth and Their Families program is to prevent health and behavioral health risks (e.g., suicide, depression, homelessness, drug use, HIV) and to promote well-being for LGBTQI+ youth in the context of their families/caregivers, cultures, and communities by establishing LGBTQI+ family counseling and support programs and training providers on family counseling and support interventions. The program aims to prevent or ameliorate the development of serious mental health and substance use conditions and disorders and build healthy futures for LGBTQI+ youth by increasing family acceptance and support.
Funds Support Higher Education for Gang-Involved Youth

Application deadline: July 17, 2023
Description: The Transitioning Gang-Involved Youth to Higher Education Program supports organizations that work directly with gang-involved youth to help such youth pursue higher education opportunities that will lead to certification or credentials. Such programs can include apprenticeships or other workforce preparation programs that promote job readiness upon completion of the program, while simultaneously providing essential wraparound services that include culturally competent social and emotional support.
