Forty to 50 matching grants ranging from $25,000 to $50,000 will be awarded. Full proposals are due January 31, 2023. Visit the NFWF website to review the request for proposals.

Each team is also eligible to receive additional funding to support the school's first three years of operation. The application deadline is January 27, 2023. More information on the funding opportunity is available on the Fund's website.

Writing Capacity Building Grant Proposals
Let's be honest, finding the resources you need to sustain your nonprofit is challenging. Capacity building grants can be a solution to help you manage your organization's future and meet the ever-changing demands of your community. Since the pandemic, funders have increased their focus on providing more resources to help nonprofit organizations maintain and build their capacity to provide services. This renewed focus on capacity building makes it an ideal time to capitalize on this trend and apply for funding to help your organization operate more effectively and efficiently. But there are unique differences between capacity building grants and regular, programmatic grants that you must understand if you want to write a successful proposal. During this webinar, Alice Ruhnke will define and discuss the fundamentals of capacity building grant proposals. She will introduce you to a practical approach with examples based on real experiences. The webinar will be held on Tuesday, November 29, 2022.

How to Package Past Performance to Secure Future Funding
Successful nonprofit leaders are able to demonstrate the impact of their programs to funders and stakeholders. But how can you build and nurture a high-performance measurement culture that will help you achieve and fund your mission? During this webinar, Sheri Chaney Jones of Measurement Resources Company will introduce you to tools and strategies your organization can use to achieve bold goals, increase stakeholder trust, and accelerate social change. Sheri will share actionable insights from her more than 12 years of experience working with over 200 social sector organizations. The webinar will be held on Wednesday, November 30, 2022.

Evidence-Based Practices for Your Programs and Projects
Donors and funders naturally want to support programs "that work." So how can you build vital credibility with funders and donors? Demonstrate that your organization's approach to a problem is guided by research. During this TargetED, Alice Ruhnke will help you learn how to identify and select evidence-based practices that can be effective for your programs and projects and ultimately lead to more funding. You will have the opportunity to ask Alice questions about evidence-based practices so you walk away with a working knowledge of the varying levels of research that define different practices and the resources needed to find them independently. The webinar will be held on Monday, December 5, 2022.

An Introduction to Our Senior Research Specialist, Kerry Glauser

As a child, I had this weird obsession with typing. My parents would pick up old typewriters for me to play around with. It was something about the tactile experience of the keys—the give and take of that downward push—along with the resounding click of a letter being committed to posterity. As I grew older, I became more fascinated in the words produced, and with the idea that they had to be the right words. Eventually, this helped lead me to become a transcriptionist.

And from there, I found my way to GrantStation. As I work through our funder profiles, I use that same mentality I used with the typewriters of my youth. I want the information to be right, so that our Members can find the right leads for their programs and organizations.

I came to GrantStation about six years ago. I was working part-time while finishing my degree in environmental science and came aboard full-time after I graduated. GrantStation was an early adopter of the telecommuting model, and I enjoyed the ability to work with my chinchilla, Chewie, nearby.

I work in our U.S. database, where I maintain our funder profiles and search for new funders to add. I also oversee the profiles of funders that do not have websites. In addition, I help with our monthly webinar tours of the GrantStation website and research federal opportunities for the GrantStation Insider newsletter.

Contact me if you want to talk about fluffy animals or the funders in our database. I particularly enjoy questions about the IRS Form 990. Until then, I'll be over here, typing away (not on a typewriter, thankfully).
