Support for Projects to Assist People Living with Paralysis
Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation: Direct Effect Quality of Life Grants

The Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation is dedicated to curing spinal cord injury by funding innovative research, and improving the quality of life for people living with paralysis through grants, information, and advocacy. The Foundation’s Direct Effect Quality of Life Grants of up to $25,000 are currently being offered for specific budget items to support a wide range of projects that will impact individuals living with paralysis and their families. Examples of funded projects include sports wheelchairs for a wheelchair basketball team, kayaks for a rowing program, accessible lockers in a gym, wheelchair accessible picnic tables at a county fairground, subsidized lessons for a therapeutic horseback riding program, accessible student transportation costs for an inclusive after-school program, and stipends for support group leaders. Nonprofit organizations, municipal and state governments, school districts, recognized tribal entities, and other institutions such as community or veterans hospitals are eligible to apply. Nonprofit Organizations Advancing Community Solutions Recognized
The Renewal Awards

The Renewal Awards program, sponsored by The Atlantic and the Allstate Insurance Company, was created to celebrate the social innovation demonstrated by nonprofit organizations that are finding creative solutions to America’s most pressing problems. The program recognizes these organizations and individuals as they drive positive change in their communities, and helps them make an even bigger impact. Five winners will each receive $20,000 in funding from Allstate; one of the winners will additionally be presented with the Allstate Youth Empowerment Award. Film Festival and Education Programs Funded
Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences: Academy Grants Program

The Academy Grants Program, an initiative of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, seeks to inspire imagination and connect the world through the medium of motion pictures. The program is currently accepting grant applications from nonprofit organizations in two areas: FilmWatch grants support curated screening programs at North America-based film festivals, film societies, and other film-related organizations. Targeted programs include those that create culturally diverse viewing experiences, promote motion pictures as an art form, provide a platform for underrepresented artists, and cultivate new and dedicated audiences for theatrical film. FilmCraft grants support high-quality educational programs worldwide that identify and empower future filmmakers from nontraditional backgrounds. Targeted programs include those that encourage an appreciation of film as both a vocation and an art form, and those that provide hands-on opportunities for participants to gain the filmmaking skills they need to tell their stories. Grants range from $5,000 to $20,000. The application deadline for both grant programs is November 16, 2018. Grants Promote K-12 Aerospace Education Activities
Air Force Association: Educator Grant Program

The Air Force Association's (AFA) Educator Grant Program is designed to promote aerospace education activities in classrooms from kindergarten through twelfth grade. Each year 40 grants of $500 are provided to K-12 classroom teachers throughout the United States for innovative aerospace projects. Examples of funded activities and items include classroom science or technology demonstration kits, science and technology software for K-12 use, supplies for making flying objects, etc. The application deadline is December 15, 2018. Legal Services for Georgia Women and Children Supported
Georgia Association for Women Lawyers (GAWL) Foundation

The mission of the Georgia Association for Women Lawyers (GAWL) Foundation is to encourage philanthropy by women lawyers in Georgia for the benefit of the greater community. The Foundation provides grants ranging from $500 to $2,000 to nonprofit organizations in Georgia serving women and children, especially in the legal system. Preference is given to organizations with missions that align with the following guidelines (in order of priority): organizations that provide free legal services to disadvantaged women and girls; organizations that provide free services to disadvantaged women and girls in the legal system; and organizations that provide free services to disadvantaged women and girls. Kush Desai Foundation

The Kush Desai Foundation is dedicated to making a positive difference in the state of Colorado. The Foundation’s current areas of interest include social programs that provide services for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault, children and families in need, individuals and families struggling with mental health, individuals nearing the end of their lives, and individuals and families experiencing homelessness. Nonprofit organizations throughout the state are eligible to apply. The application deadline is December 15, 2018. Visit the Foundation’s website to review the application guidelines.

Grants Strengthen Washington State Community Organizations
Washington Women's Foundation: Pooled Fund Grants

The vision of the Washington Women’s Foundation is to change the course of women's philanthropy through the power of collective giving. Every year the Foundation awards five large impact Pooled Fund Grants to nonprofit organizations throughout Washington State. Grants of up to $100,000 are provided—one in each of these funding areas: arts and culture, education, environment, health, and human services. Beginning this year, the Foundation seeks to support organizations that are reflective of the communities they serve, draw on the strengths of these communities, and are accountable to these communities in order to achieve the long-term goals of increasing equity and reducing disparities. While the Foundation does fund programs and projects, including capital projects, organizations are encouraged to apply for general operating and capacity-building support. Support for Sea Turtle Research, Education, and Conservation Efforts in Florida
Sea Turtle Conservancy: Florida Sea Turtle Grants Program

The Florida Sea Turtle Grants Program, funded by a portion of revenues from Florida's Sea Turtle Specialty License Plate and administered by the Sea Turtle Conservancy, provides grants each year to support sea turtle research, conservation, and education programs throughout Florida. Nonprofit organizations, educational institutions, and government agencies in Florida are eligible to apply for grants ranging from $1,000 to $40,000. The application deadline is November 9, 2018. Program Supports HIV Prevention
Centers for Disease Control

The Capacity Building Assistance for High Impact HIV Prevention Program Integration initiative provides support to accelerate the nation’s progress toward a goal of no new HIV infections through two central priorities: ensuring that all people living with HIV are aware of their infection and successfully linked to medical care and treatment to achieve viral suppression, and expanding access to pre-exposure prophylaxis, condoms, and other proven strategies for people at high risk of becoming infected. Optional letters of intent are due October 12, 2018. The application deadline is November 12, 2018.

Funds Available for Rural Health Networks
Department of Health and Human Services

The Rural Health Network Development Planning Program supports the development of integrated healthcare networks in order to achieve efficiencies; expand access to, coordinate, and improve the quality of essential healthcare services; and strengthen the rural healthcare system as a whole. The application deadline is November 30, 2018.
