Support for Community College/Human Services Collaborations in U.S. Cities
Kresge Foundation: Boosting Opportunities for Social and Economic Mobility for Families

The Kresge Foundation is launching a new funding opportunity, Boosting Opportunities for Social and Economic Mobility for Families, to strengthen partnerships between community colleges and human services organizations that connect people with low incomes in cities to critical human service supports and educational pathways that advance social and economic mobility. The program aims to strengthen existing partnerships between community colleges and human services nonprofits that help current and future students secure family-sustaining employment using two-generation approaches. The focus is on solutions that bring together community colleges’ educational pathways, human services nonprofits’ supportive services, and workforce development’s career pathways. The Foundation will award up to eight grants of up to $450,000 each. The application deadline is July 26, 2019. The application packet and FAQs may be downloaded from the Foundation’s website.

Initiatives Addressing Toxic Chemicals in Minority Communities Funded
Cedar Tree Foundation: Children’s Environmental Health Initiative

The Cedar Tree Foundation is dedicated to addressing a broad range of environmental issues within the United States. In 2019, the Foundation’s Children’s Environmental Health Initiative will support nonprofit organizations working in communities of color to protect and improve children’s health by focusing on exposures to toxic chemicals in products and the environment. Special consideration will be given to organizations whose leadership (staff and board) and programs reflect the communities they serve, with a priority placed on organizations led by people of color. Applicants must have an organizational budget between $250,000 and $10 million. Grants will range from $70,000 to $100,000 per year, for three years. Online Letter of Inquiry Forms are due July 12, 2019; full proposals will be invited in the early fall. Visit the Foundation’s website to learn more about the application process.

Grants Promote Contemporary Visual Arts
The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts

The purpose of the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts is the advancement of the visual arts. The Foundation fosters innovative artistic expression and the creative process through its support of cultural organizations that, in turn, support artists and their work. Grants are provided for curatorial programs at museums, artists’ organizations, and other cultural institutions to originate innovative and scholarly presentations of contemporary visual arts. Projects may include exhibitions, catalogues, artists’ residencies, and other relevant activities. Proposals that highlight women, artists of color, and under-represented practitioners are encouraged. The Foundation has designated one of its grants, The Wynn Kramarsky Freedom of Artistic Expression Award, to recognize the work of organizations with a deep-seated commitment to defending the First Amendment rights of artists. National Wildlife Refuge Friends Organizations Supported
National Fish and Wildlife Foundation: National Wildlife Refuge Friends Grant Program

The National Wildlife Refuge Friends Grant Program, an initiative of the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation, funds projects that assist organizations in being effective co-stewards of important natural resources within the National Wildlife Refuge System. The Program’s goals are to help Refuge Friends organizations in developing projects, expanding and increasing their capacity, meeting local refuge conservation challenges, and gaining and building community recognition. Grants ranging from $1,500 to $15,000 are provided for capacity building, project support, Friends peer-to-peer coaching, and a special initiative: Public Access Enhancements and Increasing Hunting and Fishing Experiences on National Wildlife Refuges. Opportunities for Specific Areas

Funds to Improve the High School Principal Pipeline in Massachusetts
Barr Foundation: Strengthening School Leadership in Massachusetts

The Barr Foundation’s Education program seeks to dramatically increase teacher and leader capacity in order to support and sustain high-quality personalized high schools that put success within reach of all students across Massachusetts. The Foundation’s current request for proposals (RFP), Strengthening School Leadership in Massachusetts, offers an opportunity for groups of schools in Massachusetts to strengthen approaches to school leadership. Priority will be given to applicants that serve a significant number of high-needs students. Grants of $100,000 to $200,000 will support nine months of planning resulting in the development of a feasible, effective plan to strengthen the local or regional principal pipeline. In addition, the Foundation will provide grantees with technical assistance and facilitate collaborative learning sessions with all grantees in the cohort. Single Massachusetts public school systems and partnerships of Massachusetts schools are eligible to apply. Applicants must span a total of at least three public high schools across all schools, but may also include schools across the K-12 spectrum. Proposals must be submitted by September 10, 2019. Grants Encourage the Protection of Nevada’s Wildlife Habitat
Dream Tags Charitable Fund

The Dream Tags Charitable Fund, administered by the Community Foundation of Western Nevada, encourages nonprofit organizations, educational institutions, and government agencies throughout Nevada to engage state residents in wildlife conservation. The Fund provides grants to support the preservation, protection, management, or restoration of wildlife and its habitat. The focus is on restoring resilience in at-risk Nevada habitats with strategic collaborative projects for sustained impact. Applicants must provide a minimum 25 percent match for funds requested. Support for Local Football Fields in NFL Markets
NFL Foundation Grassroots Program

The NFL Foundation Grassroots Program, administered by the Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) and funded by the National Football League Foundation, provides support for nonprofit neighborhood-based organizations and middle or high schools to improve the quality, safety, and accessibility of local football fields. Matching Field Surface Grants of up to $250,000 are available to help finance the resurfacing of community, middle school, or high school football fields. General Field Support Grants of up to $50,000 are available for capital projects not associated with the actual field surface, such as the installation or refurbishment of bleachers, concession stands, lights, etc. All organizations applying for funds must be located within NFL Target Markets and serve low- to moderate-income areas within those markets. Programs to Improve the Health of South Carolinians Funded
BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina Foundation: Health Priority Grants

The BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina Foundation is committed to improving the health outcomes for current and future generations of South Carolinians. The Foundation provides Health Priority Grants to support programs that are closely aligned with the following five areas of focus: Access to Care, Building a Stronger Workforce for Health, Improving the Quality and Value of Health and Healthcare, Investing in the Health and Well-Being of South Carolina Children and Families, and Research/Special Projects. Nonprofit organizations interested in applying should contact Foundation staff before submitting a letter of intent by August 14, 2019. Support Available to Address Opioids in Tribal Communities
Department of Health and Human Services

The Tribal Opioid Response Grants program aims to address the opioid crisis in tribal communities by increasing access to culturally appropriate and evidence-based treatment, including medication-assisted treatment. The application deadline is August 6, 2019.

Creative Placemaking Efforts Funded
National Endowment for the Arts

Our Town is a creative placemaking grants program that supports projects that integrate arts, culture, and design activities into efforts to strengthen communities by advancing local economic, physical, or social outcomes. Grants.gov applications are due August 8, 2019.
